Oxygen analyzers or Oxygen Meters measure O2 (PPO2) content in any gas and show the result on the liquid crystal display. The heart of the analyzer is the oxygen sensor. The sensor generates voltages of electrical signals (in mV) depending on the concentration of O2 in the testing gas and then transmits them to an electronic measuring system that converts the electrical signal to the displayed result on the monitor. Oxygen analyzers are used inter alia. in medicine and diving. They can be used for continuous or temporary oxygen monitoring in a specific space or dive system.
The simplest example of the use analyzers in diving is the measurement of O2 content in a nitrox or trimix cylinder before diving. The analysis is made by geting close for a few seconds by the sensor to the unscrewed valve at the cylinder and reading the result on the display. The valve should be slightly unscrewed so that the gas flow is about 2-4 l/min, bearing in mind that with the greater flow the measurement will be less accurate.
Another solution is the special flow restrictors that guarantee unchanging flow, regardless of the gas pressure in the cylinder and the degree of unscrewing of the valve. Before analysis it is always necessary to calibrate the analyzer preferably on a cylinder with 100% O2, or when we do not have it in field conditions assuming that in atmospheric air is 20.9% O2 on sea level
Analyzers are delicate devices and must be protected from moisture, low and high temperatures and shocks. The sensors themselves, when not working, it is good to disconnect from the analyzer and protect with a special stopper, then their life may be up to 36 months.
Working with a new analyzer may require several minutes of demonstration and then personal practice under the supervision of an experienced person. The analyzer is additionally equipped with a power switch and a potentiometer for calibration and a connection cable for an external sensor model. The 9V alkaline battery is used as standard. Moana manufactures oxygen analyzers based primarily on oxygen sensors from Vandagraph.
Two models of analyzers are produced: compact with internal sensor and external sensor. Detailed description including price and ordering options in the Product Table.
